Babble Royale turns Scrabble into a heated battle royale – Destructoid
Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can win you a chicken dinner
The battle royale trend may not be over yet, and one of its more recent interpretations is a weird pairing that really works. Babble Royale is, if you sum it up, Scrabble meets battle royale. There’s also a lot more going on than you think.
16 players drop into the wild for a war of words, with the winner becoming the last scribe standing. You stay alive by staying in the circle that presses the board. And you can eliminate players by entering into their own words.
Babble Royale is developed by the creators of the idle game Universal Paper Clips and Hey Robot at Everybody House Games. And a bit like paperclips, Babble Royale seems ready to waste your time.
It’s hard to forget the days of Words between friends, and I dig how Babble Royale reinvents the classic word-building game with a battle royale twist. The cool part is that while it’s in early access, it’s also free. So if you want to test your word search skills, you can download it on Steam right now and find out just how verbose you really are.
Babble Royale will be in Early Access, and over the next few months, Everybody House Games says it will expand the experience with new content and features. Now seems like the right time to step into the ground floor of this wordfighting experience. Or at least receive a sobering reminder of your true Scrabble skills.
