Oluwafemi and Eloho emerge as new Nigerian chess champions

International Master, Balogun Oluwafemi became the new National Chess Champion in the National Chess Championship 2021 which just ended at Orchid Hotel, Lekki this weekend.

Oluwafemi won the event undefeated with a score of 7 points out of a possible 9 points. FIDE Master Osunfuyi Abimbola finished second with a total of 6 points out of a possible 9. He lost his only match of the tournament to FIDE Master Akintoye Abdulraham Abdulraheem.

FIDE Master Oragwu Chukwunonso sealed the third position in the tiebreaker after sharing the same points (5/9) with FIDE Master Akintoye Abdulraham Abdulraheem.

Female FIDE Master Ogbiyoyo Perpetual Eloho is the new National Chess Champion (Women) for the year 2021/22. She won the championship after recording a total score of 7 points out of a possible 9 points. His only defeat came to Ofowino Toritsemuwa, who finished second in the championship.

Women’s International Mistress (Elect) Ofowino Toritsemuwa secured second place, half a point behind the women’s champion.

Enomah Emmanuella Trust finished third on the log with a total of 6 of a possible 9 points.
