Phuket edition of Monopoly hailed for helping boost tourism

PHUKET: Phuket officials have welcomed the launch of the Phuket edition of the popular board game Monopoly, saying the move will help raise Phuket’s international profile as a tourist destination and boost locals’ income by stimulating tourism on the island.

The announcement was made during the official launch of ‘Monopoly: Phuket Edition’ at Central Phuket Mall yesterday (March 19).

The Phuket-focused edition has been created through a collaboration between the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Winning Moves UK, who are the creators of this officially licensed game from leading game and toy maker Hasbro, creator of the franchise Transformers.

The game features iconic tourist attractions on the island including Cape Promthep, which occupies the most prestigious spot in the game, Mayfair, as well as other top tourist spots such as Kata Beach, Naka Market , Phuket Old Town and Coral Island, located off the southeast coast of Phuket.

Phuket News is featured in the Community Chest square in the ‘Mayfair’ area of ​​the board.
